Reseda : Van Strikes, Kills Man Pushing Car
A man was rammed by a car and crushed to death late Tuesday night as he was pushing his stalled vehicle to the side of the road, police said.
Police said Joseph Mailae, 21, of Reseda was pushing the car while a friend steered near Tampa Avenue and Hamlin Street about 10:45 p.m., when a van rammed into him.
Mailae was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where he died a short time later, according to LAPD Officer Rod Grahek.
The lights on Mailae’s car were apparently not working, causing the van driver not to see him standing in back of his vehicle, police said.
The woman driving the van suffered minor injuries. No one else was injured in the accident, police said.
Mailae was just a few miles from his home when he was hit.
