LA HABRA — A 34-year-old woman walking just a mile from her home was struck and killed Thursday by a 71-year-old driver, police said.
Maria A. Garcia of La Habra was crossing La Habra Boulevard near Euclid Street in a crosswalk when a Ford pickup hit her, Police Lt. Steve Costanzo said.
The truck driver apparently lost control and proceeded to hit two vehicles in front of him. One of the drivers was taken to Friendly Hills Regional Medical Center in La Habra, where she was treated for clavicle and rib injuries.
Garcia died at the scene. The truck driver and the other motorist who was hit were uninjured.
The truck driver was not cited. The cause of the accident had not been determined, Costanzo said, and the collision remains under investigation.
