Westside : PARKING MADE EASY
Motorists may find parking in West Hollywood easier next month as the city begins retrofitting all of its parking meters to high-tech electronic meters that will not require coins.
In September, 1,200 parking meters will be upgraded to accept a prepaid cash key card, in addition to accepting nickels, dimes or quarters, transportation officials said. About 500 meters were installed on a trial basis last February.
“The response has been overwhelming,” said Don Korotsky, associate transportation planner. “We get calls all the time from businesses that want [the meters] near them, and from people who already have [cash] cards and want the meters throughout the city.”
