PORT HUENEME : Farewell Party Set for District Trustee
An open house to wish departing Hueneme Elementary School District Trustee Cheryl Hamilton goodby will take place next month at the district offices, officials said Tuesday.
Hamilton is stepping down Sept. 11 because she is moving outside of the district’s boundaries, educators said. A farewell party will begin at 3 p.m. on Sept. 13 in the administrative headquarters at 205 N. Ventura Road, Port Hueneme.
Hamilton’s departure will leave a vacancy on the five-member board of education. Trustees plan to appoint a successor to serve the remaining three years of Hamilton’s four-year term.
The new trustee will be named Sept. 5 and will be sworn in Oct. 23, district officials said.
