Officials Seek to Identify Burned Body

SILVERADO CANYON — A body burned beyond recognition was found about midnight in the hills north of Limestone Canyon Regional Park near Black Star Canyon Road, authorities said Monday.
A sheriff’s deputy who was alerted to a small fire by a motorist put out the blaze with a portable fire extinguisher and then discovered it was a body, Sheriff’s Lt. Ron Wilkerson said.
“The body is possibly of a male adult,” Wilkerson said. “But we don’t know for sure because of the degree of the burns.”
Detectives are investigating the death as a homicide but they have not ruled out suicide, Wilkerson said.
The body was found about 200 yards north of Silverado Canyon Road.
