VENTURA : Volunteers Sought to Clear Riverbed
- Share via
A Ventura service club is calling for volunteers to help clean debris from the Ventura River bed this weekend.
Volunteers are asked to report to the information trailer at the Main Street Bridge over the river at 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The work will be done in rugged terrain, so volunteers should dress accordingly. Work gloves, heavy shoes, long-sleeved shirts, heavy pants, a hat and eye protection are recommended.
The project is sponsored by the Ventura Avenue Lions Club, Citizens for a Safe Ventura County and the Surfriders Foundation.
A city-paid cleanup of the river was limited to the area from the ocean mouth to the city line near Simpson Street. The area north of Simpson Street is still cluttered with storm debris.
