More than 140 people who dropped off donations at a Compton church paid for the funeral Monday of a 5-year-old boy who was was fatally mauled by three German shepherds after he chased his ball into a fenced equipment yard.
About 500 people attended the memorial Mass for Gilberto Martinez of Compton at Our Lady of Victory Church. The boy Father Clif of Our Lady of Victory eulogized Gilberto as an innocent with qualities that adults should strive for, including the ability to trust and love.
