REGION : Training Program Taking Applicants
“Fast Track,” an intensive eight-week technical skills training program in Huntington Park, is accepting applications for its third class, which begins July 10.
The free program places youths ages 18 to 23 in jobs with wages of at least $7 an hour. There are 15 slots in the federally funded program. The program’s second class will graduate Saturday.
Applicants must have an equivalent of a high school diploma. Candidates must take a drug test and commit to attending each eight-hour session.
The bulk of the training consists of word processing and other basic computer functions as well as written and oral communication.
Graduates have been placed at a variety of companies including Core-Mark, a Huntington Park grocery wholesaler, and at Assemblywoman Martha Escutia’s field office.
