William Bennett Confirms Sahara Purchase: The former chairman of Circus Circus said he has bought the Sahara Hotel and adjacent land for three blocks along the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip. He paid $193 million for the properties. Bennett’s company, Gordon Gaming Corp., is expected to take over the hotel within four months after approval of the sale by Nevada gaming authorities. He is expected to develop the other properties with new attractions. “This project will complete the Strip from north to south as a total entertainment experience, giving people even more to see and do in Las Vegas,” Bennett said.
