McDonnell Douglas: The company said Wednesday that its Delta II expendable launch vehicle built in Huntington Beach will be used by Hughes Communications Inc. to launch Hughes’ Galaxy IX communications satellite. The contract calls for a Delta II model to put the satellite into orbit next April from a launch at Cape Canaveral in Florida.
Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed. Galaxy satellites provide cable and network television transmission, audio and data distribution, video time-sharing and international television satellite services.
