Windy Scofield
Laguna Hills, Senior
Softball/Pitcher
Early this season, Scofield struggled a bit in the pitching circle. A four-year starter, Scofield was having control problems and the Hawks’ inexperienced defense didn’t give her much help. But Scofield seems to be rounding into form. Last Tuesday, she pitched a four-hitter and didn’t give up an earned run as Laguna Hills beat Costa Mesa, 7-3, in a showdown for first place in the Pacific Coast League. “She’s starting to really locate the ball,” Coach Cary Crouch said. “When that happens, good things happen to us.” Later in the week, Scofield’s pinch-hit single with two outs in the seventh broke a 3-3 tie and led to a 6-3 victory over Aliso Niguel.
