Softball-Size Hail Damages Airline Fleet

GRAPEVINE, Tex. — American Airlines canceled 199 jet flights and about 100 commuter runs Monday throughout its system because hail as big as softballs damaged its fleet.
Fifty-one American jets and 24 smaller American Eagle planes remained out of service because of a Saturday night thunderstorm at the Dallas-Ft. Worth airport.
