Artists Forfeit Victory Over Hawks
The Laguna Beach boys’ volleyball team, ranked No. 1 in Orange County, has forfeited a Pacific Coast League volleyball match, Laguna Hills Athletic Director Dave Brown said Monday.
The Artists (10-1, 5-1 in league) forfeited their April 7 victory over Laguna Hills, Brown said. According to Laguna Beach Coach Michael Soylular, the loss ended the Artists’ 63-match Pacific Coast League winning streak.
“Laguna Beach violated a (Southern Section) rule by playing an athlete in both a JV and varsity contest on the same day,” Brown said.
Laguna Hills (9-3, 5-1) is now tied for first with Laguna Beach. The teams play again May 3 at Laguna Beach.
