2 Rob Armored Car Office of $1.5 Million
Associated Press
NEW YORK — Two bandits came through the roof into an armored car office early Monday, tied up five workers and escaped with $1.5 million, police said.
The robbers burst into a Trans-Am Security office in the borough of Queens about 1:30 a.m. EDT, police spokesman Arek Tarih said.
Tarih said the $1.5 million had been counted and was bagged.
The workers, all women, were bound for nearly an hour before they freed themselves and tripped an alarm. No one was hurt, Tarih said. In September, 1993, thieves had made off with $500,000 from the same site.
