Vitesse Posts Quarterly Net Loss of $1.1 Million

Vitesse Semiconductor Corp., a Camarillo-headquartered supplier of integrated circuits, reported a net loss of $1.1 million for its second quarter, despite racking up record sales of $10 million during the period ended March 31.

The company said the loss resulted in part from a $1.1-million write-off of receivables and inventories following the bankruptcy of one of its customers. During the second quarter last year, Vitesse posted a $1.75-million loss on sales of $8.7 million.

For the six months ended March 31, Vitesse posted a loss of $486,000 on sales of $19.8 million. In the same period a year earlier, Vitesse lost $4.4 million on sales of $16.8 million.
