4.9 Quake Shakes Central Coast, Is Felt in San Francisco

PINNACLES NATIONAL MONUMENT, Calif. — A moderate earthquake shook Monterey County early Sunday morning.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 4.9 and was centered eight miles north-northwest of here, in the Central Coast region.
People as far north as San Francisco reporting feeling the temblor, which hit about 1:40 a.m.
Residents described it as a long, rolling motion that lasted 15 to 20 seconds.
There were no reports of injuries or damage.
