Congratulations on Schools’ High Scores

* Oak Park High School: No. 1 in the county in math, No. 1 in the county in reading, No. 1 in the county in writing--a clean sweep in all categories. Medea Creek Middle School is in the top three in all categories. Brookside Elementary is in the top three in two of three categories.
The staff, students, and administration at these Oak Park schools are to be commended for their performance on the statewide achievement tests. It is clear that in the Oak Park Unified School District, basic skills are being taught in the context of critical thinking and problem solving.
The CLAS test may have been controversial, but a test is a test, and the students still had performance standards to meet. Moreover, the parents and the community responsible for these high-performing schools should be recognized, for without their high standards these achievements would not be possible.
