AGOURA HILLS : Input Sought on Equestrian Rules

The city is seeking input from the public to help establish rules and regulations for a regional equestrian facility under construction in Agoura Hills.
A public meeting has been set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 30101 Agoura Court. A special volunteer task force that will make recommendations on how the facility should be used will attend.
The equestrian facility, part of a 10-acre park that is replacing a smaller city park, will be located between Chesebro Road, Colodny Drive and Driver Avenue. City officials say the five-member task force will serve until May, when the facility is expected to be completed.
Under the plans, the equestrian facility will be free and open to residents of the surrounding region, city officials say. The facility will link up with the Zuma Ridge Trail, an equestrian trail running through the county.
The task force, city officials say, makes recommendations on issues such as safety, whether the facility should be reserved for groups, and what types of events should be staged there.
Funding has already been obtained for the equestrian facility, and for a baseball field and children’s playground, said Audrey Brown, the city’s director of community services. The city, she said, is still trying to raise money to build a basketball court and 1,500-square-foot recreation building on the site.
Anyone with questions is asked to call Brown at (818) 597-7304.
