ARTESIA : Council Revives Panel on Parks, Recreation

The City Council has resurrected the Parks and Recreation Commission to advise council members on matters ranging from community sports leagues to the performance of park staff members.
The commission was disbanded about 10 years ago in a move to streamline city government, Councilman Ron Oliver said.
The council appointed five commissioners: Chris Orozco Jr., a body shop foreman; Randall A. Van Beek, a warehouse manager; Clayton Young, a construction company manager; Timothy Sagert, a communications technician, and Joe Alves, a machinist.
