Hong Kong Office Space World’s Most Expensive: Hong Kong is set to come under the rule of Communist China in mid-1997, but right now the tiny British colony is flexing its capitalistic muscles. Office rental rates average $138.18 a square foot, up $4 in the past six months, according to a new study by Boston-based Colliers International, a worldwide property manager. Eight of the 10 world’s most expensive office markets are in Asia, Colliers said. The other two cities in the top 10 are in Europe, and the closest a U.S. city could come to that was Washington at No. 26.
