COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Northridge Twice as Good as New Mexico, 2-0 and 7-3
Jennifer Richardson pitched a one-hitter in the opener and Scia Maumausolo doubled twice and drove in five runs in the second game as Cal State Northridge swept a Western Athletic Conference softball doubleheader at New Mexico, 2-0 and 7-3, on Friday.
Richardson (6-3) had six strikeouts and two walks. Kathy Blake-Small (11-4) allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out five in the second game for the Matadors.
Jamie Herrington tripled, stole a base, scored twice and drove in a run for Northridge (24-9, 9-1) in the nightcap after going two for three with two stolen bases and scoring once in the opener.
Cal Lutheran 13-12, Gustavus Adolphus 5-1--Aimee Snider had two triples, a double and five RBIs for the Regals (19-6) in a nonconference doubleheader at Cal Lutheran.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
CS Northridge d. La Verne, 15-4, 15-7, 15-5--Chad Strickland had 14 kills and Travis Ferguson added 51 assists for the Matadors (14-7) in a nonconference match at La Verne.
