EL MONTE : Officer Kills Man Who Pointed Gun at Him
An El Monte police officer shot a man to death Thursday afternoon after the man pointed a pistol at him, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
Deputies said the incident began after officers received a telephone call about two men firing pistols in the air from a car near Gilman and Ferris roads. Police said that when they stopped the car, the driver told them he had just borrowed the vehicle from his son, who lived in a house on Ferris Road.
El Monte police said that officers who went to the house said that when they opened a bedroom door, one of two men in the room pointed a gun at them. One of the officers fired, killing the man, investigators said.
The other man, who was the driver’s son, was detained for questioning, deputies said.
