GLENDALE : Police Chief Chosen for Statewide Post
Glendale Police Chief James Anthony is scheduled to be installed today as 1995 president of the California Police Chiefs Assn., a statewide group of more than 350 police chiefs that lobbies state government for funding of law enforcement programs.
Anthony, 51, was chosen for the post during the organization’s annual three-day convention at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, said Sgt. Lief Nicolaisen, a Glendale police spokesman.
“It is a prestigious position,” Nicolaisen said. “I think what it means to the citizens of Glendale is that with our chief in such a high-profile position, the needs of Glendale will be more than adequately represented in Sacramento.”
Anthony has 32 years experience as a law enforcement officer and holds a master’s degree in public administration from USC. He became Glendale’s chief in 1992, and previously was Chino’s chief of police.
