Hueneme Citrus Exports Explode Previous Record
The Port of Hueneme shattered its previous record for citrus exports in 1994.
The 13.6 million cartons shipped from the port’s docks last year was more than four times greater than the previous mark, 2.6 million, set in 1989, according to the Oxnard Harbor District, which runs the facility.
Chief reason for the upsurge: a new Cool Carriers (USA) Inc. dockside refrigerated terminal. It alone accounted for 8.6 million cartons of lemons, oranges and other citrus products.
