Dornan Didn’t Tell the Whole Story

Well, there he goes again! Orange County Congressman “B-1” Bob Dornan (R-Garden Grove) was creating disruption again but beating a dead horse on the floor of the House. Yes, he was castigating Bill Clinton about avoiding military service during the Vietnam War 26 years ago. In his familiar screaming voice, he accused Bill Clinton of giving “comfort to the enemy,” as if the North Vietnamese government knew Bill Clinton in 1969! Despite the best efforts of the Bush campaign, they were never able to place Clinton at the head of any anti-war demonstrations.
Amazingly, Dornan failed to mention the conservatives of his party who avoided military service with the same 2-S draft deferment that Clinton had. They included Sen. Phil Gramm (R-Texas), Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), Pat Buchanan, Bill Bennett, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Huntington Beach) and others.
Mr. Dornan, the only person I know who gave “comfort and aid to the enemy” was the U.S. President who sold 2,000 TOE missiles to terrorist Iran shortly after they bombed 246 U.S. Marines in Lebanon and after that same nation was responsible for the Pan Am bombing over Scotland. That President was not Bill Clinton, Mr. Dornan.
