POGS: The Milkcap Guide by Tommi...
POGS: The Milkcap Guide by Tommi Lewis, photographs by Cragi Cameron Olsen (Andrews & McMeel: $8.95; 111 pp., paperback original) The name of this adolescent craze comes from the initials for “Passion Orange Guava.” The Haleakala Dairy on Maui printed special bottle caps to advertise their fruit juice drink. Children in Hawaii used the caps in games that were transformed into an industry with licensed products, limited-edition Pogs, videos, etc. Lewis inadvertently reveals the eagerness of business to make a buck off any pastime, however innocent.
