SANTA ANA — Three teen-agers were shot, two fatally, in separate incidents Thursday, police said.
One teen-ager was shot to death and a second gravely injured in the first attack, in what police said was a gang-related attack.
Both of the victims, who were not identified, appeared to be about 16 years old, according to Sgt. Dick Faust.
The shooting occurred in a large apartment complex in the 1000 block of East Camile Street just after 8:30 p.m.
The first victim, who was shot in the chest, was dead at the scene. The second, who was shot in the head, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was reported in grave condition.
Members of the police gang homicide unit were investigating the shooting. Witnesses told police they saw three people walk south on Camile Street immediately following the shooting.
Another Santa Ana teen-ager, this one 14 years old, was shot in the head and killed at 10:02 p.m. in the 1900 block of South Center street in what police said was an unrelated incident.
