Here’s a pleasant freeway bulletin.
South Coast Plaza traffic is expected to ease somewhat when a new off-ramp from the San Diego Freeway opens later this year.
It will take traffic from the northbound San Diego Freeway onto South Coast Drive in Costa Mesa.
The ramp comes as plans are being finalized to build a new retail center across the street from Crystal Court.
The new center--at Bear Street and South Coast Drive--will feature dining and assorted shops.
Officials hope the ramp will be ready for shoppers by the Christmas season.
Today
The second annual Prime Time Literacy Book Drive is in full swing at all six of Irvine’s
middle schools and at the Junior League of Orange County.
New and “gently used” books can be dropped at any of the schools or at the Junior League headquarters, 3347 Michelson Dr. in Irvine.
The league will then distribute the books to disadvantaged children.
