Pacific Mutual Life Appoints 4 New Vice Presidents

* Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Newport Beach announced the appointment of four new executive vice presidents: Larry J. Card, securities; Daryle G. Johnson, pension investments; Lynn C. Miller, individual insurance; and Michael S. Robb, real estate investments. Also, seven senior vice presidents were named: John A. Jarboe, S. Gene Schofield, Raymond J. Lee, John E. Milberg, John D. Murray, Marilee Roller and Robert G. Haskell.

* Nicholas A. Mosich has joined the private equity investment firm of McGoodwin James & Co. in Costa Mesa. He was formerly a partner and managing director of corporate finance for Trenwith Capital, a merchant bank in Newport Beach.

* Erin Norton-Smith has been appointed national accounts manager at Subscriber Computing Inc., a Laguna Hills provider of software and consulting services to the wireless communications industry. Before joining the company, she was with Cincinnati Bell Information Systems Inc. for nine years.

* Bud Richley has been appointed regional director of Firingline Corp., a retirement planning company. He will be based in Irvine and responsible for territories south of Los Angeles. Richley was formerly a consultant for the company.

* John Budd has been appointed chairman and chief executive officer of Brian Pharmaceuticals Inc., a Laguna Hills developer of over-the-counter drugs. Budd had been a consultant and the company’s ex officio chairman and CEO since 1990. Before that, he was chief operating officer of the foods division of Lever Brothers Co. Budd was also president of Mattel Inc.’s Diversified Companies, a group of start-up companies.

* Barry D. Emerson has been named vice president of Wyle Laboratories, an Irvine marketer of electronic products. He continues to serve as controller, a position he has held since 1992. Emerson joined Wyle in 1984 as manager for corporate accounting. He was named corporate director for financial reporting in 1986 and in 1990 became assistant corporate controller.

* Janet Burkett has been elected president of the International Customer Service Assn., a nonprofit organization. She is customer service manager for Dimension Cable Services in San Juan Capistrano.

* Patrick Thomas has been appointed sales manager in Orange County for Principal Financial Group of Irvine. He is responsible for recruiting, training and development of agents and registered representatives. Thomas was previously a sales manager for the San Diego office. In addition, Bill Black was appointed agency business consultant for the Orange County and San Diego regions. Black, a senior agent with Principal, has been with the company for five years.

* Larry A. Sallinger has been appointed senior vice president and regional manager of Orange National Bank. He will oversee all aspects of branch management, including commercial lending, business development and operations. Sallinger was previously interim president and chief executive of Frontier Bank. Before that, he was executive vice president and a loan administrator for Frontier.

* Toni G. Bushong has joined the Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach as rooms division manager, responsible for managing the front desk, reservations, housekeeping and PBX operations. Bushong spent seven years with the Ritz-Carlton Hotels, most recently as training manager for the Mauna Lani, Hawaii, location.
