Dozens of Pilgrims Feared Drowned in Ganges River

NEW DELHI — Dozens of Hindu pilgrims were feared drowned Sunday when a boat capsized in the mouth of the Ganges River, United News of India reported.
The boat was carrying about 100 passengers who had come to bathe in the holy river in a ritual that Hindus believe washes away their sins. Officials said about 33 had been rescued.
