Wilson Is ‘Seeding Cloud of Poison,’ Jackson Says

The Rev. Jesse Jackson attacked Gov. Pete Wilson in a speech to area black ministers last week, saying Wilson “is seeding the cloud of poison and division” by criticizing affirmative action and backing Proposition 187.
Jackson called on the gathering of 50 ministers at True Way Baptist Church in South-Central to get their congregations to “organize, register (to vote) and resist” Wilson and a push to abolish affirmative action in California.
Jackson was joined by the Rev. Al Sharpton of New York. They were in Los Angeles recruiting ministers to join a nationwide campaign to politicize black churches, which they will kick off at a Jan. 30 conference of ministers in Washington.
