Prudential Settles Texas Case: Prudential Securities is close to clearing away another lawsuit relating to its limited partnership scandal, reaching an agreement in principle to settle a Texas state court case for about $30 million, an attorney representing investors in the case said. The case involves about 4,000 investors, some outside of Texas. It is now up to each client to accept or reject individual offers that make up the $30-million total, lawyer John Grayson said. As reported, Tuesday was the deadline for Prudential customers to file claims for compensation from a separate, much larger, settlement pool set up under an agreement with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The administrator of that pool said about 170,000 claims were expected.
