Eureka Quake Caused $1.2 Million in Damage

A preliminary estimate of damage in Eureka’s magnitude 5.3 earthquake Monday totals $1,208,500, according to officials at the state Office of Emergency Services.
The estimate lists $1,075,000 in damage inside the city of Eureka, including 46 dwellings that sustained $420,000 in damage, 21 businesses that had $630,000 in damage and medical facilities with $25,000 in damages.
In towns and unincorporated areas outside Eureka, damage totaled $133,500 for all structures, the agency said.
Twenty-five minor injuries were reported in the earthquake.
