Burton, Dahl, Chase Honored for Volleyball

Long Beach State’s Nichelle Burton and Traci Dahl and Hawaii’s Sarah Chase, from Cypress, were three Big West players selected to the All-Northwest Region women’s volleyball first team.

UC Irvine’s Popi Edwards, Long Beach State’s Brita Schwerm, and San Jose State’s Cristin Rossman, from Huntington Beach, earned second-team honors.

Cal State Fullerton’s Alfred Partida and Joey Franchino have been invited to practice with the U.S. under-21 men’s soccer team, a steppingstone to the U.S. Olympic team. Partida is a sophomore sweeper and Franchino is a freshman midfielder.
