A group of Tampa fans behind the Buccaneers’ bench, unhappy with the team’s 4-9 record, has been tough on Coach Sam Wyche recently.
“You remember your first beer, don’t you?” Wyche said of the hecklers. “These guys are reliving their childhood. There are eight of them now (behind the bench). A guy who sits behind them called in on my weekly radio show and said: A. They’re drunk. B. When you make a first down, they go berserk, just like they do when you have to punt.
“They memorized their one chant, and it they don’t repeat it often enough, they’ll forget it.”
And what chant is that?
“The Jimmy Johnson chant,” Wyche said. “But some of them are chanting, ‘Jimmy Jackson.”’
