With enrollment growing again, Los Alamitos Unified School District officials plan to reopen one of the district’s closed schools.
But to finance the reopening of Oak Middle School in Los Alamitos, the district is selling the vacant Weaver Elementary School in Rossmoor.
District officials say a second middle school is necessary because McAuliffe is getting overcrowded. Two middle schools will be necessary to accommodate an expected increase of about 230 students next year.
The Weaver school site is being sold for $8 million to a developer who wants to build homes on the land.
