PANORAMA CITY : Couple’s Deaths Apparently Natural
Police on Thursday said they believe an elderly couple, whose decaying corpses were found in their Panorama City home by investigators, died of natural causes.
The bodies of Margaret Jacobson, 80, and her husband, Virgil, 79, were discovered when officers entered their Ranchito Avenue home after neighbors called police, saying they had not seen the couple in months.
The bodies were found on the floor in separate bedrooms, said Los Angeles Police Detective Stephen Fisk, who estimated that the Jacobsons had been dead for two or three weeks. He said Virgil Jacobson was blind and had diabetes, and may have been unable to get help. The house has no telephone and there were no signs of a break-in, Fisk said.
Police are awaiting an autopsy to determine how the couple died.
