DOWNEY : Free Services Help Parade Break Even
- Share via
Organizers of Sunday’s Holiday Lane Parade said thousands of dollars of donations and a City Council decision to provide police protection and other services at no charge allowed them to break even on the event.
Parade chairman Michael J. Prokop said the free city services, which would have cost about $5,700, helped reduce the parade’s tab to $22,200 for the event’s organizers, the Chamber of Commerce. Donations from residents and businesses covered the other costs, he said.
Police, building and cleanup crews were provided by the city at no charge until last year.
