ACCESS to Get $5 Million in Inventory Financing

ACCESS HealthNet Inc., a Westlake Village provider of health-care communications services, said Data General Corp. and Ameritech Corp. have agreed to provide financing of more than $5 million during the next year to help ACCESS boost its inventory, and help customers buy its computer systems.
The new line of the lines of credit will help finance deals struck by ACCESS earlier this year with two large, laboratory-service companies for hardware and software systems. The money also will be used to expand development of new products.
ACCESS provides systems that help laboratories transmit information such as laboratory test results to hospitals via computer.
In other news, ACCESS HealthNet also said it has obtained marketing rights to a nursing home software system developed by Epoch Software Systems Inc. through a licensing agreement. The software systems handle information such as patient files and billing. Epoch has installed more than 100 such systems in nursing homes in Michigan.
