WOMEN’S BASKETBALL : Trojans Can’t Stop Hawkeyes

Tia Jackson and Karen Clayton helped No. 14 Iowa defeat No. 23 USC, 65-55, Sunday at Iowa City to win the Hawkeye Classic.
Jackson scored 15 points and led the Hawkeyes with eight rebounds. Clayton had nine points, six rebounds and three assists.
Iowa (2-0) held Tina Thompson to 13 points after she scored a career-high 35 against Marquette on Saturday and limited the Trojans (1-1) to one basket in the final four minutes.
No. 4 Louisiana Tech 88, Long Beach State 56--The Lady Techsters (1-1) used a 14-5 run to take a 67-34 lead at Long Beach. The 49ers (0-1) got no closer than 31 the rest of the game.
