PREP WATER POLO : South Pasadena Wins Another Title, 10-7

Craig Bessenger scored three goals, two in the pivotal third quarter, to lead South Pasadena High to a 10-7 victory over Whittier La Serna on Wednesday in the Southern Section Division III water polo final at Belmont Plaza Pool in Long Beach.
The Tigers, who won the Division IV championship last year, built upon a 6-5 halftime lead by outscoring the Lancers, 4-0, in the third quarter.
With the victory, No. 2-seeded South Pasadena (23-5) avenged two regular-season losses to top-seeded La Serna (22-5).
Shawn Estep scored four goals for the Tigers, and Brian Butcher scored two. La Serna was led by Justin McLaughlin and Jeff Sato, who each scored two goals.
In other matches, Esperanza won the Division II title with a 9-8 victory over Anaheim Servite and Rowland defeated Brea Olinda, 11-8, for the Division VI title.
