In another exhibition game:

Townsville Suns (Australia) 71, CS Fullerton 70--David Blades made one of two free throws with six seconds left to give the Suns the victory at Titan Gym.

Fullerton’s Chuck Overton missed a three-point shot as time expired.

The Titans tied the score 70-70 on two free throws with 31 seconds left. Amos scored 12 points for the Titans, who led 60-52 with 5:41 left.

In nonconference men’s basketball:

Claremont-Mudd 86, Chapman 72--Kevin Zitar scored 23 and former Laguna Beach standout Darren Gravley 18 for Claremont, which led by 30 at one point in the second half. Adam Dzierzynski and Ramin Bastani each scored 18 points for the visiting Panthers (0-1).

In nonconference women’s basketball:

Chapman 66, Redlands 60--Melody Earle scored 14 points and Faye Cruz and Alana Conyers each scored 13 for the host Panthers (1-0).

In nonconference volleyball:

Colorado State 3, UC Irvine 2--Meredith Fletcher set a school record of 69 assists in UC Irvine’s loss to Colorado State, 12-15, 15-12, 18-16, 13-15, 15-8. The former record of 66 was set by Vesna Sepic last year.
