Irvine Bicyclist Killed After Being Hit by Car

IRVINE — A 21-year-old bicyclist died Wednesday after being hit by a car at East Yale Loop and South Yale Avenue, authorities said.
The Irvine man, who was not identified, was treated at the scene and taken to Irvine Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the man, who was not wearing a helmet, was riding west on the sidewalk next to Yale Loop. Just after 6 p.m., he turned onto the roadway near Yale Avenue, colliding with a car traveling west.
The driver was not cited, but police said the investigation is continuing.
