HERMOSA BEACH : ‘First Night’ Events Slated for Downtown
- Share via
On New Year’s Eve, city officials plan to transform downtown Hermosa Beach into a series of stages and concert halls where more than 25 artists will perform poetry, plays and music.
The plans are designed to give Southland residents an enriching and alcohol-free way to ring in the New Year. So far, organizers have raised $21,000 to pay for the event, known as First Night.
Pianist Dragana Bajalovic, one of the organizers, said she has received nearly 70 proposals from area artists, including a classical violinist to perform at the Civic Center. Bajalovic seeks corporate sponsors to raise an additional $80,000 to pay the performers.
