Market trends: Microsoft Corp. was the volume leader in Monday’s trading. Carmike Cinemas Inc., the nation’s second-largest theater chain, with more than 1,900 screens, announced a record third-quarter profit of $10.3 million on sales of $109 million, compared to a year-ago profit of $7.3 million on sales of $82.4 million. Profit for the nine-month period ended Sept. 30 was $13.5 million, or $1.65 per share, a 35% increase over a profit of $10 million, or $1.28 per share, for the first nine months of 1993.
