Foothill 9, Orange 9 (Foothill wins on games, 82-75)--Jennifer Park and Ina Gottschalk swept for Foothill, 6-0, 6-0, 6-2.
In the Empire League:
El Dorado 14, Cypress 4--Michelle Weisz swept for fifth-ranked El Dorado (15-5, 8-0), 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.
In the Golden West League:
Rosary 16, Ocean View 2--Colleen Coady and Cheryl Hamilton remained undefeated with their 6-1, 6-0, 6-0 sweep for 10th-ranked Rosary (11-3, 7-0).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Beach 12, University 6--Michelle Bray ran her unbeaten streak to 78 games with a 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 sweep for top-ranked Laguna Beach (16-1, 7-0).
In the Sea View League:
Corona del Mar 9, Newport Harbor 9 (Corona del Mar wins on games, 84-65)--Nina Vaughan swept her sets, 6-1, 6-2, 6-0, handing previously unbeaten Sarah Hawkins her first loss and leading the fourth-ranked Sea Kings over No. 3 Newport Harbor (6-2 in league). Corona del Mar is 12-3, 8-0.
In Century League girls’ cross-country:
El Modena 15, Orange 50--El Modena’s Karen Booth, Leslie Burton, Jessica Dahlberg, Katie Kennedy, Kim Lacher and Tara Whitfield finished in a six-way tie for first with a time of 19:42.
Santa Ana Valley 20, Villa Park 37--Elly Estrada finished first for No. 10 Santa Ana Valley (3-2) in 17:49. Teammate Maribel Delgado finished second in 18:33.
Empire League girls’ volleyball:
Katella 3, Kennedy 2--Katella (8-4, 5-1) handed Kennedy (5-1), which moved from the Garden Grove League this year, its first league loss in four years bu winning, 15-9, 1-15, 15-5, 3-15, 15-11.
In the Sunset League:
Dana Hills 3, Mater Dei 2--Sixth-ranked Dana Hills (14-3, 5-0) held off a fifth-game rally by eighth-ranked Mater Dei and won, 12-15, 15-5, 15-11, 8-15, 15-13. Tricia Jenssen had 16 kills for the Dolphins and Roberta Gehlke had a game-high 27 for the Monarchs.
Edison 3, Esperanza 2--Second-ranked Edison (12-0, 6-0) dropped its first two games but rallied to a 9-15, 12-15, 15-6, 15-4, 15-5 victory. Shelby Clemens had 20 kills and Erin McCown added 15 kills and 22 digs. Ami Nihipali led the Aztecs (5-5, 3-3) with a game-high 24 kills.
Huntington Beach 3, Fountain Valley 1--Melissa Wendt had 23 kills to lead fourth-ranked Huntington Beach (9-2, 5-1), 12-15, 15-10, 15-5, 16-14.
South Coast League water polo:
San Clemente 12, Dana Hills 6--Tony Duynstee scored three goals and John and Jordan Hewko each scored two goals for second-ranked San Clemente (19-2, 3-0).
Trabuco Hills 10, Mission Viejo 9--With 52 seconds left in the game, Jimmy Bray scored the winning goal for Trabuco Hills (14-8, 3-0).
