HUNTINGTON BEACH : Parking Structure Fee to Be Increased
- Share via
People who park in the city’s downtown parking structure will pay $1 more beginning Nov. 1.
The City Council this week approved an increase in fees to $3 on weekdays and $4 on weekends for the four-level Main Promenade Parking Structure.
Councilmen Jim Silva and Ralph Bauer voted against the increases.
In addition, the council agreed to continue the 25-cent validation charge to merchants, but charge customers a reduced rate for parking with validation. In the past, parking was free with validation. In the future, the public will pay $1 for parking with one validation sticker; 50 cents with two; 25 cents with three and nothing with four validations, said Jim Engle, community services deputy director.
The parking fee increase is expected to raise $417,000 to help offset parking structure operation costs and pay off the construction bond.
In 1993-94, $238,964 was raised from the 372,073 vehicles that parked in the structure.
