Gambling Against Trip to Vegas by Greyhound
On Sept. 24 I was foiled in my attempt to buy a ticket to Las Vegas from cash-strapped Greyhound (“A Sick Puppy,” Oct. 4), due to a complete lack of crowd control at the L.A. bus station. Customers entering the station didn’t know if they should stand under one of four signs (“Southbound,” “Eastbound,” “Westbound,” “Northbound”) or if they should stand in one long line to buy tickets.
The security guard was instructed to bring the tail end of one long line of people to a newly opened ticket counter. As a result, some customers got served immediately and others waited an hour to buy tickets. By the time I got served, I was told that there were no more tickets to Vegas.
I think I’ll spend a little more money and fly to Vegas in a new Airbus jetliner (round-trip on America West: $78) instead of an old, smelly Greyhound bus.
