Agoura 17, Thousand Oaks 15--Agoura capitalized on turnovers to score two touchdowns in a 44-second span midway through the second quarter and thwarted a fourth-quarter rally by host Thousand Oaks.
Thousand Oaks led, 7-0, after one quarter on a one-yard run by Bill Sperry, but Agoura came back after recovering a fumble at its 12-yard line early in the second quarter. Quarterback Eric Fitzgerald combined with Ryan Capretta on a 66-yard touchdown pass play to tie the score, 7-7.
Thousand Oaks (1-5, 0-3) fumbled the ensuing kickoff at its 18 and Agoura (2-4, 2-1) went ahead a few plays later on Fitzgerald’s one-yard sneak. Fitzgerald completed 19 of 36 for 238 yards.
Adam Eyre kicked a 22-yard field goal in the third quarter to give the Chargers a 17-7 lead.
Sperry scored his second touchdown on a three-yard run early in the fourth quarter but the Chargers controlled the ball thereafter.
