The first campaign disclosure statements filed in connection with the Nov. 8 municipal election show that challenger Marty Simonoff and Councilman Burnie Dunlap have so far received significantly more contributions than the other candidates.
Two incumbents and six challengers are competing for three seats on the City Council. Councilman Carrey J. Nelson is not seeking reelection.
Campaign contribution totals were as follows:
* Simonoff: $8,495
* Dunlap: $8,292
* Lynn Daucher: $3,285
* Mayor Glenn G. Parker: $2,785
* William M. Vega: $1,951
* Steven C. Vargas: $1,620
Challengers Sandra Varner Nolte and William T. Watson both filed disclosure statements indicating that they do not expect to receive more than $1,000 in contributions or have more than $1,000 in campaign-related expenses.
The next deadline for filing financial disclosure statements with the city clerk’s office is Oct. 27.
